Project for the promotion of the Austro-Hungarian military cemeteries of the Carso
The project aims to raise awareness and promote the Austro-Hungarian cemeteries of the Great War of Prosecco and Aurisina.
The recovery of the memory of these sites begins with historical research and the location of the cemeteries in order to give a chance to families and scholars to reach and know the places, the events and the names of the fallen army engaged on the Front.
Starting from the historical lists, spot checks were performed in order to know the exact place of burial of each fallen, even documenting it photographically. There were sought additional lists from which to draw more information, such as the rank, the unit, the date of death, and any other statements available. In these places lie people from many ethnic groups that formed the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in addition to Italian and Russian prisoners of war who died in the field hospitals from which these cemeteries originate.
